Los Cristianos - Tenerife

Situated around 15 kilometres west of the Reina Sofía south airport, Los Cristianos is, second to Playa de Las Americas, one of the most popular resorts in Tenerife. The artificial beaches are very nice and it has a superb harbour with lots to offer, such as glass bottom boats, diving and of course Los Cristianos is the port that links the South of Tenerife to the island of La Gomera via numerous daily ferries.

Unlike its lively neighbour, Playa de las Américas, this appealing town has a history that predates the tourist boom of the 70’s and 80’s. For many years this holiday center was a quiet fishing village. Los Cristianos tends to attract a somewhat older holidaymaker in comparison to Playa de las Américas. Los Cristianos and Playa de Las Americas are now only separated by the Montaña Chayofita.

Los Cristianos has two beaches, the main Playa de Los Cristanos and the Las Vistas beach. Las Vistas Beach is situated in the next bay to the harbour and is protected by break-waters,

Los Cristianos is, over the years, replacing Arona (the municipality) as the administrative centre of the south of Tenerife, with its own cultural centre which takes on many of the roles of the town-hall and a recently constructed court near the football stadium.

Tourist attractions include the newly constructed Siam Park and the Aguilas del Teide park.
